Welcome

I’m a BACP accredited counsellor, originally from the UK but now living and working in France. I offer online sessions to clients in the UK, Europe and around the globe. Below you’ll find more information about me, how I can help you, and some information about how counselling sessions work.

My name is Harriet and I believe in the potential for counselling to change lives.

I have experience of working with a wide range of adults, children and young people who are struggling in life, with difficulties such as; anxiety, depression, relationship problems, low self-esteem, anger and bereavement.

I understand that life can be hard. As we go through life we develop ways of being and coping that, while they may help us survive, can cause us problems long term or when we face new challenges.

Trying to change how we have faced life for so long can be a real challenge and can often feel difficult among our busy lives or during big life changes. That’s where I believe counselling can help. In a quiet, peaceful setting I can provide you with the time and space to explore what is distressing you and discover a solution to help you move forward.

I am here to help you know that life can be better, that you are not alone, and that we can work together to discover what’s best for you.

Training:

Masters in Counselling Psychology, University of Keele (2015).

Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People, CPCAB (2019).

Accredited Member (MBACP Accred.) of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and abide by their ethical guidelines.

More than I in 4 people access counselling or psychotherapy at some point in their lives (BACP, 2014).

Therefore if you are unhappy or life feels like a struggle you are not alone.

I understand how frightening it can be to feel stuck and like there is no way out, but I want you to know that if you are ready for things to change then they can, however difficult things are feeling now.

I also understand that sometimes we feel we need a ‘quick fix’; we wish someone would wave a magic wand and help us out of the mess we feel in. I often wish I could do this for my clients, I also know that the only expert of you is you, and it is important to find a solution that feels meaningful and will be long lasting.

We will therefore work together to find the best for you. This will mean me supporting you as you explore the detail of the difficulties you are facing. This can sometimes feel easy as you are relieved to have someone to offload to, other times this can feel like a real challenge that you need to work hard at. Either way the results can be really powerful as you find out what it is you really need to feel happier being you.

I have seen first-hand, both personally and professionally, the power counselling has to change lives and I look forward to discussing how it can help you.

Can counselling help me?

I believe that counselling can be really powerful and help in overcoming a wide range of difficulties. It is however important to make sure that you feel comfortable working with your counsellor and that now feels the right time for you. In the first session we will therefore take the time to get to know each other and it is completely your choice whether you wish for us to continue to work together.

How much does it cost?

Sessions cost £60 / 70 euros per 50 minute session.

Sessions for counselling students are at the reduced rate of £40 per 50 minute session.

What can I expect from you?

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. This means that I work ethically to their high standards; ensuring I work to support you the best I can. An important part of this is you knowing that anything you tell me will remain fully confidential, unless I have severe concerns for your or someone else’s safety. I will discuss this in full with you when we first meet, however you are more than welcome to chat to me about any questions you may have.

 How do you work?

Other than play therapy, I offer sessions purely online. This is through a secure, HIPPA compliant online service. When you book an appointment a link will be sent to you containing details of how to access our online sessions. I will ask you to fill in a client form and sign a client and counsellor agreement which I will ask you to return by email.

  Still have questions?

I understand that it can feel daunting booking your first session and can feel like a really big step. Often it is easy to convince ourselves that our worries are not important or serious enough or to push down whatever is troubling us and make ourselves push on. However I am here to tell you that you are important and worth valuing. Life continuously brings it’s challenges and there is real strength in taking a pause, reflecting on what you need and asking for support as you navigate what you are facing. You are welcome to send me an email or book a free 15 minute introductory video call. I’d be happy to talk through any questions you may have.
